The green group was one of seven colour series adidas built the Adicolor relaunch around in 2006, each assigned its own designers and its own commissioned short film. This is the low-top entry from that group, in a fairway green with white through the stripes and sole. The concept behind the line was older than the shoes: adidas first ran Adicolor in 1983, selling plain white trainers alongside marker pens so buyers could decorate them, and the relaunch treated that as a starting point rather than as a nostalgia exercise. A White Series still shipped with pens, badges and spare laces for anyone who wanted to do it themselves, while the colour series handed the same job to outside artists, studios and licensors: a catalogue that ended up taking in comics publishers, toy companies and cartoon characters. Twenty years on, the programme reads as an early and unusually ambitious version of the collaboration model that now runs most of the industry, executed across seven colours at once.
