Crazy Explosive was adidas's flagship basketball shoe in the middle of the last decade, and the 2017 version is the one most reviewers rate: a forged Primeknit upper over a full-length Boost midsole, with a plastic roll-cage on the lateral side to stop the foam rolling under a hard cut, and a collar built high enough to need almost no break-in. Boost had already changed distance running; putting the full length of it under a basketball shoe was the more aggressive bet, since the foam is soft and tall and basketball punishes both. Andrew Wiggins wore the model through that period and it functioned as his unofficial signature shoe, with a string of player editions made in his colours, this dark navy and black pair among them. It never carried his name on the box, which was normal for the brand at the time: adidas ran a deep roster on shared models rather than splitting them into individual lines, and player editions were the compromise that resulted.
