The fourth Derrick Rose signature shoe was designed as two shoes joined at the ankle. A hard line runs across the collar: everything behind it was built in tougher materials to represent the way Rose played, and everything in front of it in smoother, more finished ones to represent how he dressed away from the court. It is a literal idea, executed literally, which makes the model unusually easy to read. Underneath the concept sits adidas's full basketball toolkit from the period: a segmented outsole built for direction changes, a plastic chassis wrapping the midfoot for stability, a woven support layer through the upper for breathability, and moulded padding through the collar. It arrived in the autumn of 2013, during the stretch when Rose was moving in and out of the lineup after knee surgery and adidas was building an entire line around him regardless. This version is black with light scarlet and a dark metallic accent.
