Iridescent finishes work by interference rather than pigment: a thin coating splits reflected light so the surface appears to change colour with viewing angle. On a dark shoe the effect is at its strongest, which is why this kids' NMD_R1 puts the treatment on a black textile base. Straight on, the panels look close to blue; from the side they swing toward purple and green.
The Boost midsole is black rather than the white the line usually runs, a decision that keeps the entire lower half neutral and stops the foam from pulling light away from the upper. The moulded inserts in the sidewall follow suit. Built in grade-school sizing, it released March 26, 2020 at $110, roughly twenty dollars under the adult knit price of the same period. The rest of the package is unchanged from the full-size model: a sock-like collar, a heel pull tab, welded Three Stripes and the segmented rubber outsole.
