Consortium is the arm of adidas that handles small, deliberately odd projects, and the Gardening Club is among the odder ones: a compact range introduced in late 2019 and presented around gardening, with two versions of the Response Hoverturf and a sandal-trainer hybrid alongside it.
The Hoverturf itself is assembled from turn-of-the-2000s running parts, with a lugged outsole under a layered synthetic upper, and the first colorways used earthy greens and golds to sell the theme.
The second delivery, released at the start of April 2020, dropped the literal palette. Both pairs were worked in white or black on ripstop mesh, with 3M reflective material at the toe and heel counter, which reads as a technical shoe rather than a themed one. The garden reference survives mainly in the name.
