Neoprene is the material that makes this work. The upper is a light neoprene bootie that stretches around the foot and holds its shape without laces, which is how adidas got the Superstar down to a size a small child can manage alone.
Pink covers it, white handles the shell toe and the trim, and the Three-Stripes are rendered in reflective material so the shoe picks up headlights in low light. Underfoot, a vulcanised EVA outsole is scored with deep hexagonal grooves, letting the sole flex in several directions rather than hinging in one place.
