The S&L initials stand for suede and leather, the two materials adidas layered over the UltraBoost's knit shell for this women's run. Ecru Tint sets a warm off-white tone across the Primeknit, with Pale Nude suede riding the toe and heel and Real Pink surfacing on smaller trim. The midfoot cage, normally a moulded plastic frame threaded through the laces, is rendered here in stitched material, which changes both how the shoe looks and how firmly it holds the foot.
Underneath, nothing about the running hardware changes. A full-length Boost midsole carries the compressed thermoplastic polyurethane pellets adidas developed with the chemical maker BASF and first put into running shoes in 2013, and a rubber outsole handles grip. The pair carried a $225 price at its November 2, 2019 release, above the $180 that standard UltraBoost colourways asked that year, a gap explained by the premium hides. The palette reads closer to a dress shoe than to a trainer, which is the point of the S&L family.
