Y-3 has been Yohji Yamamoto's adidas line since 2003, the Y standing for the designer and the 3 for the Three Stripes, and its Forum Hi OG is one of the few times the label has rebuilt a heritage basketball shoe rather than inventing a new shape. This pair is entirely black: leather upper, black strap, black laces, black cupsole, with the only relief coming from matte and glossy panels catching light against each other. The structural addition is a zipper that wraps the heel and runs forward along the lateral midfoot, a Yamamoto signature that turns the collar into a controlled opening rather than a fixed one. The ankle strap is reworked but present. Underneath, the cupsole follows the original closely, including the EVA wedge on the medial side wrapped in webbing, which is the detail that separates a Forum sole from a generic cup. At more than three times the price of a standard pair, the shoe is positioned as a fashion object, and the all-leather construction and hardware are where that money goes.
