Y-3 put the Shiku Run into its Fall 2020 range in late August of that year, opening with black and white pairs. The upper is built from double-layer mesh, and that technical base is then interrupted by suede and leather, the tension the label sets up across most of its runners: performance fabric handled with the material choices of a tailoring house.
The shoe uses a sculpted midsole and keeps its outer surface largely uninterrupted, with branding confined to a small number of placements rather than spread across the quarter panels.
Further colourways followed in spring 2021 and again into 2022. This white pair belongs to that second wave, about a year after the model launched, and it is the version where the layering is easiest to read, because the mesh, the suede and the leather all resolve as slightly different whites rather than collapsing into one flat surface the way a black pair does.
