This is the last shoe of the partnership, and it released into the aftermath of that partnership ending. West had moved to adidas (a deal confirmed later in 2013), and the shoe's arrival had been delayed repeatedly, becoming a running subject of speculation in its own right. Nike put it online on 9 February 2014 with no advance notice and it was gone within minutes.
It is the only version of the Air Yeezy 2 that abandons the reptile texturing the model was built around. In its place, the side panels carry dense rows of small triangular studs, a change of surface rather than of shape. Everything else is one colour: a saturated scarlet running across the upper, the strap, the heel and the sole, interrupted only by metallic gold tips on the laces.
Underneath is the same tooling the 2012 pair used, borrowed from a 1990 tennis shoe. The price was $245, identical to the two colorways that preceded it, the ordinary sum attached to what turned out to be the end of the line.
