ASICS launched the original DynaBlast in August 2020, a year after the NovaBlast opened the brand's Blast range, and pitched it as the lighter, cheaper entry into the same idea: a foam-forward daily trainer that feels springy rather than plush. The recipe was FlyteFoam Blast in the midsole, cut-outs sculpted into the outsole so the foam could compress and rebound more freely, and an upper with almost no overlays.
By the fourth generation the shape had settled into a straightforward neutral trainer for easy mileage: enough foam to absorb a daily run, light enough not to feel like a recovery shoe. This version runs a woven upper in black over graphite grey, a deliberately plain make-up for a shoe that spends its life on repeat.
FlyteFoam itself dates to 2016, when ASICS introduced it in the DynaFlyte, and the Blast variants that followed were tuned toward rebound rather than firmness. The DynaBlast is where that trade-off shows up at the accessible end of the range.
