ASICS released the EvoRide in February 2020 as the third shoe in its energy-saving series, after the MetaRide and GlideRide had arrived the year before. All three are built on GUIDESOLE, a curved sole with a stiff forefoot that rolls the foot forward and cuts down the work the ankle does. By the brand's own research, that joint is where runners lose the most energy over a long effort.
Where the MetaRide was heavy and expensive and the GlideRide sat in the middle, the EvoRide was the accessible one: around nine ounces at launch, with a more moderate sole curve so it suited a wider range of strides, and a FlyteFoam Propel midsole for a softer, more responsive feel than the firmer platforms above it. It sold for 120 dollars.
That combination made it a daily trainer rather than a specialist shoe, and it is the version of the rocker idea most runners actually met. This colourway runs a dark blue-grey mesh upper over a white midsole, with bronze detailing at the heel and stripes.
