ASICS built its Ride family around a single idea: curve the sole enough and the shoe does some of the work the ankle would otherwise do. MetaRide came first as the expensive proof of concept, GlideRide followed at a more reasonable price, and EvoRide arrived as the lightest and cheapest of the three.
EvoRide Speed pushes that logic further. It has no carbon plate, which is what most brands reach for when they want propulsion, and instead relies entirely on the GUIDESOLE rocker geometry to roll the foot forward through the gait cycle. The stated aim is to reduce the work asked of the ankle, which is what makes faster paces feel more sustainable over a long session.
The result tends to get recommended as a tempo shoe for runners who do not want to spend on a plated racer: light enough to pick up the pace, cheap enough to put real mileage through, and without the stiffness that a plate brings. It sits in the same family tree as the more expensive Ride models but asks far less at the till.
This pair is plain, black mesh over a white FlyteFoam midsole, and it went out at the start of June 2023.
