ASICS assembled the Celebration of Sport range for 2021, a year defined in Japan by a Tokyo Games that had been postponed twelve months and then held largely without spectators. The collection ran to dozens of pieces across multiple sports and used a confetti-style graphic treatment as its common thread, applied to running models including the Kayano and the Novablast.
Putting it on the thirteenth Pulse is the more interesting choice. The Pulse is an entry-level trainer with an AmpliFoam midsole and rearfoot GEL, sold at ninety dollars and aimed at people starting out rather than racing. A celebratory graphics programme normally lands on flagship or racing product; here it reached the shoe most likely to be somebody's first pair.
This version is dated to the end of November 2021, several months after the summer the collection was built around, which is typical for how these ranges filter through the wider catalogue.
