The Pulse occupies the part of the ASICS range that gets the least attention and the most use: a road trainer priced under most of the brand's better-known names, built on AmpliFoam rather than any of the FlyteFoam variants, with a GEL unit in the heel doing the work for the runners most likely to land there. Reviewers of the fourteenth version reached much the same verdict: comfortable well past what the price suggests, capable on easy runs, walks and gym days, and short on the rebound needed for anything fast. ASICS rates the outsole for around five hundred miles, a number that matters more to this buyer than a foam name does. There is no pronation control either, so it is a neutral shoe by omission rather than design. A dark upper with a bright accent is the default treatment for shoes sold on comfort and price, and it is the one most of these end up wearing.
