ASICS had been placing GEL in specific spots for three decades (heel and forefoot windows, tuned volumes under the strike zones) before the GEL-Quantum Infinity. This shoe put it everywhere. The midsole is a full-length GEL unit running the length and width of the foot, which the brand described as 360 degrees of the material, and it remains one of the few production running shoes built that way.
The consequences are visible in the numbers. It weighs close to 13.8 ounces and stands 21mm at the heel and 14mm at the forefoot, figures that put it well outside the range of a competitive trainer and squarely into a cushioning-first, lifestyle-adjacent category. That is what the shoe is: an engineering demonstration you can wear all day rather than a tool for tempo work.
It launched at $180 across four colourways, two men's and two women's. This one takes the grey route, with the sole unit shot through in green and blue.
