Guidesole is the ASICS name for a stiff, heavily curved midsole that limits how far the ankle has to flex through each step. The company introduced it on the MetaRide in 2019 and then built the GlideRide to put the same geometry in front of more runners at a lower price.
The third version left the geometry alone and changed the foam. ASICS added a top layer of FF Blast Plus over the existing FlyteFoam, softening the landing and adding rebound without giving up the firmness the rocker needs to work against. The shoe also lost weight, a little under a third of an ounce in a women's 7.5, and the upper moved to a jacquard mesh.
Mako Blue is dated to June 2022. At $150 the third GlideRide sat below the MetaRide and above most of the daily trainers in the range, aimed squarely at long, unhurried mileage rather than workouts.
