Two-tone grey on black is the quiet half of the GT-2000 12's colour range, and it lands on the most substantially changed version of the shoe in years. ASICS gave the twelfth generation a full-length FF Blast Plus midsole and raised the stack to thirty-six millimetres at the heel, a jump of more than a centimetre on the eleventh, then added PureGEL, an internal heel insert with none of the exposed window the line used to advertise. The stability structure was pared back too, dropping the arch element that the Kayano's version of the same system retains. What reviewers reported was a support shoe that feels like a cushioned trainer first, capable of long runs and easy miles without the firm wedge underfoot that used to define the category. This is the extra-wide build, which is often the only reason a runner ends up in a support model at all.
