The DynaFlyte matters more than its short run suggests: launched in June 2016, it was the first shoe to carry FlyteFoam through the full length of the midsole, putting the brand's new foam in front of ordinary runners rather than the small group who had bought the MetaRun a few months earlier. ASICS claimed roughly three years of development and hundreds of prototypes behind the material, and pitched the shoe as its lightest cushioned trainer at the time; one running magazine named it the best debut of that year. By the third version the line had settled into a light, fast daily trainer that the range's later FlyteFoam models eventually absorbed.
