By the twenty-ninth generation the Kayano had spent nearly three decades built the same way: a wedge of denser foam pressed against the medial side to physically resist the foot rolling inward. LITETRUSS changed the approach. It sits in the same place but works more gently, guiding the arch rather than blocking it, and it took weight out of the shoe in the process; testers measured the generation roughly ten grams under its predecessor.
The midsole moved at the same time, from FlyteFoam Blast to Blast Plus, a noticeably softer compound. Durometer readings taken by reviewers put it well under the average for a road shoe, which pushed the Kayano toward softer landings without abandoning the support the model is bought for.
It turned out to be a halfway house. A year later the thirtieth generation removed medial posting entirely, replacing it with sculpted sidewalls and the 4D Guidance System, and the line's identity shifted from corrective to cushioned.
Sheet rock grey with pure silver keeps this women's pair understated. It released at the start of August 2022.
