Piedmont Grey is one of the greys ASICS uses year after year, and on the wide-fitting Nimbus 24 it does what the model's buyers usually want: nothing loud. The shoe underneath was a genuine change to a line that had been iterating slowly since 1999. FF Blast Plus replaced the older FlyteFoam blend, a foam the brand rated lighter, softer and bouncier than the FF Blast used in the Novablast 2, and the result came in meaningfully under the 23 on the scale. Reviewers noticed the character shift as much as the weight; this generation wanted to be run in rather than strolled in, which was not a criticism the previous Nimbus had ever attracted. The wide build matters more here than on a lower shoe: a tall, soft midsole punishes a foot pressed against its sidewalls, and the extra room keeps the platform working the way it was designed to.
