Wide sizing and stability tend to travel together, which is why ASICS builds this model in more widths than most of its range. The tenth GT-2000 was the version worth having in any of them. It dropped both stability parts the line had leaned on for two decades (the Dynamic DuoMax medial post and the plastic Trusstic shank under the arch) and replaced them with LiteTruss, designed to guide the foot at mid-stance without the firm wedge runners could feel underfoot. Above the standard FlyteFoam sits a layer of FlyteFoam Propel, which testers found spongier than the previous compound and responsible for a ride they described as softer and more flexible than the series had managed in years. Triple black is the finish this shoe wears more often than any other, and it makes a fairly bulky support trainer look considerably less so.
