Reigning Champ is a Vancouver label, and the capsule this shoe came from was built around the city's Sea to Sky corridor (the run of trails and highway between Vancouver and Whistler), with the stated aim of finding something appealing in weather most people would call dreary. That reads directly in the construction. The Gel-Quantum 360 5 Trail base is finished in dark navy with a ripstop nylon upper, a grid-patterned forefoot and midfoot panel set against blue suede at the heel and tongue, the two separated by jagged white stitching. A midsole mudguard and shock-cord laces handle the trail part of the brief, with full-length GEL cushioning underneath and an OrthoLite sockliner above. It is a rare case of a fashion collaboration adding hardware rather than removing it.
