Converse launched the Chuck Taylor All Star II on 28 July 2015 as a genuine engineering pass over a shoe that had barely changed in decades. The canvas was made thicker, the rubber midsole and foxing were raised toward Chuck 70 proportions, the outsole went from three pieces to two, and the flat sockliner was replaced with Lunarlon foam. A padded, non-woven tongue and a micro-suede lining took care of the other long-standing gripe, which was that a standard All Star has almost nothing between your foot and the rubber.
Salsa Red gives that build a saturated, slightly orange-leaning red across the whole upper, offset by white laces, a white foxing stripe and the white rubber toe cap. The All Star ankle patch stays in its usual place on the lateral side. Our records date this colourway to January 2019 and put the list price at $75.
