Sodalite is a deep blue mineral, and Converse borrowed the name for a blue that sits between navy and cobalt: dark enough to wear like a neutral, bright enough to read as colour in daylight. The upper is that one shade from toe to collar, with white laces, a white foxing stripe, a white toe cap and white stitching drawing the outline.
Underneath the paint job is the All Star II, which Converse introduced in 2015 as the first serious comfort rebuild of the shoe. The canvas is heavier than a standard Chuck, the rubber midsole and foxing sit higher, the bottom sole is a two-piece unit, and the insole is Lunarlon foam rather than the thin sheet used on the original. A micro-suede lining and a padded tongue finish the interior. The list price was $75.
