The CX line is where Converse puts its cushioning work on the All Star. Instead of the thin sockliner a standard Chuck uses, this low-top runs CX Foam underfoot, which is what justifies the price sitting above a plain canvas Ox without any change to the outward silhouette.
Dramatic Nights is the colour story, and it lives up to the name. The base shade, which Converse calls Grave, is a deep near-black with a cool cast, deepened further by black on the lacing and trim, and then cut by Hyper Magenta, a hot pink-purple used as the single accent. On a dark canvas that accent reads almost as neon. The upper otherwise keeps the All Star outline, so the cushioning is the only thing separating it from a plain canvas Ox.
