Flipping a colourway from a light ground to a dark one changes more than the mood. Hyper Pink on Egret reads as a soft accent; the same pink on black reads as a signal, because the contrast ratio is far higher and the eye goes straight to it. This low-top takes that route, keeping the canvas black and letting the pink graphics carry the design with Egret off-white on the toe cap, foxing stripe and sole.
Low-tops also give a graphic less room than high-tops do, which pushes the artwork forward onto the forefoot and sides rather than up the quarter panel. The rest of the shoe follows the ordinary Ox pattern, thin insole included, which is what separates a basic Chuck from the cushioned versions. At $55 it was among the lower-priced pairs in the range.
