Yellow on a Chuck usually arrives bright. Gold Dart does not: it is a darker, dustier mustard that behaves more like a warm neutral, and pairing it with black lacing and eyelets rather than white pushes it further in that direction. The white rubber toe cap, foxing stripe and outsole then provide the only high-contrast element on the shoe.
This is the standard All Star Ox, the low-cut version of a shoe Converse first sold in 1917 as basketball equipment. The details have barely shifted: canvas upper, rubber bumper over the toe, metal eyelets set into the quarter for ventilation, the circular patch moved to the medial side on low-tops, and the diamond-pattern outsole.
