Sanrio has licensed Hello Kitty onto more or less everything for decades, but the Converse tie-in was unusually broad. The 2018 collection ran across three silhouettes at once, the One Star, the standard Chuck Taylor All Star and this Chuck 70, each carrying its own graphic treatment rather than a single shared print.
The Chuck 70 high-top takes the prism pink route, a bright and slightly cool pink across the canvas with the character work printed over it and egret at the toe cap and foxing. It went on sale 16 August 2018 at 100 dollars, above the 90 dollars a plain Chuck 70 high asked that season, which is roughly what a licensed graphic adds to a shoe. The base is unchanged underneath: canvas heavier than a regular All Star's, a taller glossy midsole with the foxing tape running high, a one-piece rubber outsole beneath the diamond tread, and a thick OrthoLite footbed.
