Converse and Sanrio built the 2018 Hello Kitty range around three silhouettes and a tight palette of pink, black and white, with the character placed differently on each shoe: peeking over the midsole on one, printed across the whole upper on another, grouped with her supporting cast on a third. The full line, including apparel and bags, arrived on 16 August 2018.
This is the low-cut canvas version in black, which uses the darkest ground in the collection and lets the graphic and the white rubber do the contrast. Underneath it is the everyday All Star, built as it has been since the shoe was sold as basketball equipment: a vulcanised rubber sole bonded to a light canvas upper, with the circular patch on the medial side because a low-top has no ankle panel to carry it. Footwear in the collection ran roughly $50 to $100, and this pair sat at $65.
