Priced at 120 dollars, the Grid high-top undercut the rest of Jonathan Anderson's Converse drop by 20 to 30 dollars, and the reason is material. The Toy shoes that released the same day used patent uppers with coloured midsoles and outsoles; this one stays closer to a normal Chuck 70, working its idea into the surface of the upper instead of the construction.
Flame scarlet is the carrying colour, white the ground, and the contrast is high enough that the shoe reads as pattern first and silhouette second from any distance. Egret trim, the off-white Converse uses across the 70 line, stays at the toe cap and foxing. The rest is the reissue package Converse has built the model around since 2013: canvas heavier than a regular All Star's, a glossy midsole with the foxing tape running higher up the sidewall, a one-piece rubber outsole under the diamond tread, and a thick OrthoLite footbed. It went on sale 19 July 2018.
