The Horizon is an Air Jordan 13 with the top half removed. It keeps the thirteenth model's outsole and midsole (the tooling Tinker Hatfield designed in 1997, with the panther-paw pattern underfoot) and replaces the panelled upper with a single unbroken piece, giving the shoe a silhouette that reads as a runner rather than as basketball. The design came out of Jordan Brand's work with the New York label Public School. This premium version takes the concept somewhere else again, wrapping the upper in crocodile-embossed leather in a bronze-brown tone with metallic gold detailing and a flash of the line's signature red at the sole. It is a luxury treatment applied to a shoe whose entire argument was reduction, which is either a contradiction or the natural next step depending on how you look at it. It arrived in late 2016 priced closer to a retro than to the standard version.
