Atmos, the Tokyo boutique behind some of the Air Max 1's most recognized collaborations, brought its Elephant colorway back on March 18, 2017, Nike's annual Air Max Day. The retro followed a fan vote that decided which past atmos design would return, and it landed as a black suede upper with a contrasting white toe box. The pairing between atmos and Nike on this silhouette stretches back years, making the Elephant one of several prints the two have revisited more than once.
Elephant print texture covers the suede overlays, a pattern Nike first used on Tinker Hatfield's Air Jordan 3 in 1988, connecting two of his best known designs. Clear jade accents run through the upper, sitting above a white foam midsole and a black rubber outsole, with the shoe retailing at 150 dollars for its 2017 return.
