This is a shoe about a father. Drederick Irving played basketball at Boston University wearing number 11, and his son took the same number into the NBA; when Kyrie Irving moved to Boston, Nike built him a player edition in the university's red and white with a large 11 on the upper and both parents' names worked into it. Fifteen pairs were made. They went to a single basketball-focused store in Harlem and nowhere else, and Irving wore the shoe on court early in the 2018-19 season. The fourth signature model underneath is one of the better-reviewed in the line: a lower-profile build than the third, with forefoot Air cushioning and a traction pattern designed for stopping rather than gliding. Player editions this small function as memorabilia rather than as product, which is why the pair now trades at a level with no relationship to what the retail version cost.
