Cristiano Ronaldo reached five hundred career goals in a Champions League tie for Real Madrid in September 2015, scoring twice and taking the milestone with the second. Nike marked it with a CR7 Mercurial Superfly named Quinhentos, the Portuguese word for five hundred.
The boot itself is the top-end Superfly of that era. A Flyknit yarn runs through the collar and tongue for a close, barefoot-style fit, while the rest of the upper uses NikeSKIN with the brand's all-conditions coating, meant to hold grip on the ball when the surface is wet. It launched at $300, which was flagship pricing for a firm-ground boot in 2015.
The CR7 signature line ran for years as the only personalised Mercurial series. Nike wound it down in 2019 in favour of Mercurial Dream Speed, a programme built around several fast players rather than one, which makes a boot like this one the end of a chapter rather than part of a continuing series.
