Overbranding is the whole idea behind this women's Air Max 1. Nike took a soft black leather upper and treated it as a canvas for its own marks. The laces carry a repeating pattern of miniature white Swooshes, so the busiest detail sits right where the eye lands first. Beneath the standard lateral Swoosh, itself finished in black to keep the panel tonal, a strip of nylon slogan tape emerges from the mid-panel. The same slogan reappears at the outer heel, and the inner heel answers with Nike Air lettering. Every hit is black or white; the colour code reads Black/White/Black, and nothing else interrupts it.
The build underneath is standard Air Max 1: a visible Air unit in the heel of the midsole and the familiar layered panel construction. What separates this pair from a plain black Air Max 1 is restraint in colour paired with excess in logos, hence the 'Black Logo' name. Nike released it in October 2018 at $120 in women's sizing only. For anyone building an all-black rotation, it offers the silhouette's usual comfort with a little more to look at up close than a typical triple-black pair.
