Tennis is one of the few sports where a brand designs to the venue. Nike produces a collection for each Grand Slam, and the Paris one has to answer to clay, which is why the 2024 range moved away from the bright colours it uses for hard-court events.
The J'aime Paris palette ran sanddrift, thunder blue, gum brown and metallic gold, with a moire pattern through the apparel fabrics, an iridescent effect borrowed from French textile tradition that shifts as the material moves. The detailing is small and deliberate: graphics on the sockliners and tongues, and lace tags that read Nike on one shoe and j'aime on the other.
The Vapor 11 is the lighter of the two shoes Nike put in the collection, built for players who move rather than grind. This premium version was released in mid-May 2024 at $180, days before the tournament began.
