React foam reached Nike's running line before it reached the courts, and this was the tennis shoe built to carry it: a thicker midsole than the Vapor models beside it, with the soft foam concentrated through the arch and a firmer compound running along the outer edge to stop the foot tipping during a slide. A clear plastic frame wraps the whole midsole. It sat between the heavily reinforced Vapor Cage and the stripped-down Vapor Pro in the range (more protective than one, more substantial than the other), and playtesters found it needed a couple of hours of court time before it flexed properly, after which it held up well. This women's version runs white with bright mango through the branding and volt on the sole. The model has since been discontinued, which makes it a useful marker of the point when the tennis line was still trying running foams before settling back onto Air.
