Aqua blue over white is the whole idea behind this Suede Classic. Puma named the shade Oceans Depth, and it runs across the brushed upper from toe to heel, leaving white for the Formstrip, the wrap around the toe and the sole unit. It reached stores in September 2016 at 65 dollars, one of the lowest list prices this model has carried and a reminder of where it sat before a decade of price rises.
The shape had already been in production for close to fifty years by then, having arrived in 1968 when canvas was still the default material for sport shoes. What the Classic does with that history is straightforward: one colour on the upper, white around it, nothing else. A mid blue like this is among the easier bright shades to wear, since it behaves like navy inside an outfit while still registering as a colour in daylight. The white trim will yellow a little as the pair ages, which against a blue upper looks like patina rather than neglect.
