DMX started life as a running technology. Reebok introduced the moving-air system in the late 1990s, linking chambers inside the midsole so air is pushed from heel to forefoot and back as the foot rolls through a step, and put it into performance running shoes while the industry was in the middle of a cushioning arms race. It did not win that argument. Over the following decades DMX migrated into the part of the catalogue where its advantages actually register: walking shoes, worn for hours at a stretch by people with no interest in what the midsole is called. The Comfort+ is built entirely around that use, with air pods at the heel, foam through the forefoot, a heavily padded tongue and a broad flat platform. Classic maroon is exactly the sort of colour that category asks for, dark and undemanding.
