The Genesis Mid GORE-TEX is a men's hiking and backpacking shoe that Salomon derived from its Genesis trail running model, giving it a running-shoe ride in a mid-cut hiking package. A GORE-TEX membrane behind the synthetic and textile upper handles waterproofing, and the tongue is gusseted along both sides so mud and grit stay out. There is a protective toecap at the front, a soft textile lining inside, and Salomon's quickLACE closure, a low-profile cord that tightens the shoe in one motion.
Cushioning comes from an optiFOAM EVA midsole, stacked 39 mm under the heel and 31 mm under the forefoot for an 8 mm drop, with an activeCHASSIS built in to steady the foot on rocky ground while keeping the shoe flexible. A molded OrthoLite sockliner sits above that. The outsole is All-Terrain contaGRIP, Salomon's broadest-use rubber compound, meant for wet, dry, hard and loose surfaces. Salomon lists 14 ounces per shoe in a regular width with neutral support, and rates it for full-day hikes. It is scheduled to arrive on August 1, 2026.
