Under Armour signed Stephen Curry in 2013, after a pitch meeting at Nike that has since become a well-worn story, and it had no signature shoe to hand him. He played in what the brand already made: the ClutchFit Drive and the Anatomix Spawn. The first shoe with his name on it did not arrive until 2015.
That makes the Anatomix Spawn the model people watched him wear across his first seasons with the company, and Under Armour built a run of player exclusives on it during that stretch. Testers at the time rated it well on performance, which was not a given for the brand in basketball then.
This low-cut version is a 2019 rework rather than a reissue. Its mesh upper splits between black and gold beneath a TPU and PU film that adds support and durability, the lacing runs through a rubber wrap at the forefoot the original did not have, and Micro G foam handles cushioning. The metallic finish is loud for a shoe whose place in the story is mostly that of a placeholder.
