The BMX line takes the familiar low-cut Old Skool outline and points it at a different sport. A bike shoe lives against pedal pins and crank arms, so the version Vans sells to riders leans on suede rather than canvas and keeps the waffle tread that gives grip on a platform pedal. Finishing the whole upper in black, down to the stitching and the leather sidestripe, means chain grease and scuffed toes barely register against the base colour.
It arrived on November 2, 2023 at $85, a step above the standard Old Skool price. The rest of the package is what riders and skaters have both borrowed for years: a padded ankle collar, a reinforced toe area, metal eyelets and a vulcanised rubber sole with a foxing strip running the perimeter. Blacked out like this, it doubles as a plain everyday shoe, which is part of why the BMX builds sell well past the group they were named for.
