Little kids get the C suffix in adidas' sizing, and this is the Samba OG built for it: a leather upper on a Cloud White base, Collegiate Burgundy as the contrast, gum rubber underneath. Burgundy is a well-established Samba shade in adult sizes and turns up far less often further down the grid, where white, black and navy do most of the work. At 70 dollars it undercuts the grade-school version by ten dollars and an adult pair by thirty.
The release date was 7 March 2024. By then the Samba had spent two years as one of the most worn shoes on the street, and adidas was running the full size ladder in parallel rather than treating children's makes as an afterthought, which is why a colour like this appears in the smallest sizes at all. The construction does not simplify either: the toe overlay, the quarter stripes and the flat outsole all carry through from the adult pattern. What changes is the volume and the closure, both cut for feet growing fast enough that the shoe will be outgrown long before it wears out.
