Material is the story here. An earlier grade-school Samba OG in the same Cloud White, Core Black and Gum scheme was built on a synthetic upper at 65 dollars; this one uses leather and sells for 80. Leather costs more, creases differently and softens with wear instead of staying stiff, which matters on a shoe a child will put through a year of playground use. The pattern itself is unchanged: low collar, suede T-shaped toe overlay, three stripes along the quarter, gum rubber underfoot.
