This is the reference version, the one every other colourway is a variation on. White leather, black stripes, white shell toe, gold script on the heel patch.
The shape arrived in 1969 as a low-top cut of the Pro Model, and it was the first low-top basketball shoe with an all-leather upper; the moulded rubber toe cap was a durability fix for players who wore through canvas. By 1973 it was on the feet of more than three quarters of the NBA. Its second life came off the court: Run-DMC recorded My Adidas in 1986 and wore their pairs with the laces pulled out, and adidas signed the group that year in what is generally counted as the first sneaker endorsement outside sport. adidas sells it in women's sizing at $100, the standard leather price, and has kept it in production continuously for over five decades.
