Mesa is a warm, dusty earth tone, closer to terracotta than to sand, and using it as the ground for the monogram print gives this women's Gazelle a different temperature from the beige and blue versions. White supplies the contrast, and the red accent is the detail worth knowing about: red and green banding has been a Gucci signature on its own goods for decades, so red on a tan ground reads as a nod to it even with the green left out.
The build is the collection standard. A low, narrow last, serrated three stripes, both houses' marks on the tongue and heel, and no change to the Gazelle's proportions anywhere. It launched on July 28, 2022 at $850, in the first wave of the partnership's footwear. What makes the Mesa version interesting is that it is the one colourway in the set that could plausibly have come from Gucci alone, with no adidas reference at all, which is either its strength or the reason it is the least talked about.
