Two ideas run together in this release. The first is Deconstructed, adidas' name for a build that strips or exposes parts of the standard shoe rather than finishing them conventionally. The second is the material, a snake-patterned leather, recorded alongside Core Black and Gold Metallic in the colour list. Jason Dill is an American professional skateboarder who turned pro in 1993, spent fifteen years at Alien Workshop and co-founded his own skate company in 2014 with Anthony Van Engelen; he joined the adidas skate roster in 2018.
It released on 14 March 2020 at 90 dollars in the United States, a working skate price rather than a collaboration premium, which is consistent with how adidas has handled its skate partnerships on this model. Pairing a reptile-patterned leather with a deconstructed build is a deliberate mismatch. One signals luxury and the other signals its opposite, and putting both on a football trainer pulled from the brand's archive was the joke and the point at the same time. March 2020 was an awkward moment to release anything, and the pair arrived without much of the attention a Samba collaboration would command a couple of years later.
