The adidas and LEGO Group Superstar works because the bricks are built into the mould rather than printed on top. Studs are tooled into the serrated Three-Stripes, the shell toe and the heel tab, so the pattern is something you can run a thumb over.
This is the smallest version of it. The upper is Cloud White synthetic with Core Black and Equipment Yellow doing the accent work, primary colours pulled straight out of the LEGO palette. Infant construction means the closure is built for a parent rather than a child, and the sole is lighter and more flexible than the rubber cupsole on adult pairs. adidas listed it at $48, the low end of the kids Superstar range. The collaboration also produced a buildable brick model of the shoe, a 731-piece set, which is a fair summary of how literal the whole project was.
