Moncler and adidas built The Art of Exploration Campus out of ripstop, the tear-resistant technical fabric associated with Moncler's outerwear, in place of the model's usual suede. The upper and sidewall Three Stripes run in Olive Night, with Solar Yellow surfacing as the contrast hit, giving the collaboration a utilitarian, outdoor-driven palette rather than the Campus's usual court-shoe colors.
It released October 5, 2023 at a $500 retail price, well above what a standard Campus costs, reflecting the premium materials and the Moncler name on the project. Swapping suede for ripstop changes how the shoe wears and looks while keeping the Campus's low-top shape, its Three Stripes sidewall and its herringbone rubber outsole intact underneath the technical upper, trading the suede original's texture for the water and abrasion resistance ripstop is built for.
